Pre-Register and Vote by Mail
Due to COVID-19, the State of Minnesota is encouraging voters to pre-register and if possible, cast your votes by mail. You can register to vote online through the Secretary of State’s website. For information on absentee voting, visit the Carver County Elections website. City Hall does not issue absentee ballots.
Voters living in the City of Watertown will come to City Hall at 309 Lewis Avenue South on Election Day. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM for the Primary and General Elections.
The Primary Election will be held at City Hall Tuesday, August 11, 2020. You can pre-register for the Primary Election until 5:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2020. After July 21, you must register on the day of the Primary Election at the polling place. The first day to vote absentee for the Primary Election is June 26, 2020.
The General Election will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Register to vote by October 16 to avoid having to register at the polling place. Absentee voting for the General Election is from September 18, 2020 through November 2, 2020.
City Offices Open for Election
Watertown will have three offices up for election this year:
- Mayor Steve Washburn
- Council Member
- Council Member Adam Pawelk
The Mayor’s term is two years and the two council positions are four years each. If you are interested in running for council or Mayor in Watertown, you may come to City Hall between July 28 and August 11 and pick up the application material. Filing fee is $15.
