Pre-Register and Absentee Vote

Due to COVID-19, the State of Minnesota is encouraging voters to pre-register and if possible, absentee vote. You can register to vote online through the Secretary of State’s website.    For information on absentee voting, visit the Carver County Elections website.  City Hall does not issue absentee ballots.

Polling Place

Voters living in the City of Watertown will come to City Hall at 309 Lewis Avenue South on Election Day. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM for the Primary and General Elections.

Primary Election

The Primary Election was held at City Hall Tuesday, August 11, 2020.  Watertown had 397 in person voters and 140 absentee voters.    

General Election

The next General Election will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Register to vote by October 18 to avoid having to register at the polling place. Absentee voting for the General Election is from September 20, 2024 through November 4, 2024.  Request an absentee ballot from Carver County  .

City Offices Open for Election

Watertown will have three offices up for election in 2022: 

  • Mayor Steve Washburn 
  • Council Member Michael Walters 
  • Council Member Lindsay Guetzkow

The Mayor’s term is two years and the two council positions are four years each. If you are interested in running for council or Mayor in Watertown, you may come to City Hall between July 26 and August 9, 2022 and pick up the application material. Filing fee is $15.
