On average, the City of Watertown produces 250,000 gallons of potable water a day. During this high heat, we are producing 885,000 gallons of water a day. In light of the demand, we are asking residents to reduce water consumption to ensure basic needs as well as emergency fire protection needs.
- Avoid watering between 10 am and 5 pm. Watering during the heat of day is ineffective due to evaporation.
- Follow the odd even rule (if your house number is even, water on the even calendar days)
- If your grass is brown, it is dormant (no need to start watering now grass will come back)
- Adjust your sprinkler systems to NOT run daily
Please note, new lawns are exempt from the watering rules.
Thanks for contributing toward meeting our goal of maintaining daily production at 550,000 gallons or less per day.
